Comprehensive healthcare is offered for women from childbirth through maturity in a newly renovated facility.

 

Expectant mothers in labor can come right to the unit and be admitted directly without having to first go to the emergency room. More babies are born in birthing suites at St. Vincent than anywhere else in Northern New Mexico. Each year, we bring more than 1,500 babies into the world and care for their mothers, while treating an additional 3,000 patients who visit for prenatal examinations or other obstetrical conditions.

 

Expectant mothers can take advantage of the hospital's evening prenatal classes that cover all aspects of the birthing process from labor to breastfeeding and infant safety, as well as teach helpful techniques to ease delivery. Following birth, new mothers can meet with our discharge planners before going home to determine if they will need additional help caring for their baby and to receive recommendations and referrals to the appropriate social service agencies if needed.

 

Our Doula Program offers childbirth assistance to all expectant mothers by providing four home visits, two before delivery and two after, by doulas, women specifically trained to provide emotional support, encouragement and assistance during this often trying time.

 

LDRP Birthing Suites

At St. Vincent, you give birth in one of our 11 Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) suites. These home-like suites provide mothers and families with a single-room birth experience for normal deliveries, eliminating the need to move the mother from room to room during the labor process. Chairs roll out into beds for the birth partner, and the suites are sunny and large enough to accommodate visiting family members.
