Resident General Standards of Behavior

Family Medicine residents must be in compliance with all regulations and standards as assigned by their sponsoring institution (UNM-SOM), other institutions in which they train and the ACGME.

 

Residents roles and responsibilities include:

  1. Performing duties prescribed to him/her by the attending physician in a competent, efficient, and courteous manner in strict accordance with the Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program Manual for Residents and all professional and ethical standards of the medical profession.
  2. Complying with documentation standards as defined in the medical staff by-laws.
  3. Participating in all resident education functions as appropriate.
  4. Establishing a relationship and effective communication with their attending physician
  5. Serving in accordance with the standards of the ACGME as outlined in hospital, clinic and office settings.
  6. Complying with the requirement that the attending physician is physically present for all procedures.
  7. Complying with the requirement that all charts are co-signed by the attending physician and all medical records are completed in a timely fashion.
