Resident General Standards of Behavior
Family Medicine residents must be in compliance with all regulations and standards as assigned by their sponsoring institution (UNM-SOM), other institutions in which they train and the ACGME.
Residents roles and responsibilities include:
- Performing duties prescribed to him/her by the attending physician in a competent, efficient, and courteous manner in strict accordance with the Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program Manual for Residents and all professional and ethical standards of the medical profession.
- Complying with documentation standards as defined in the medical staff by-laws.
- Participating in all resident education functions as appropriate.
- Establishing a relationship and effective communication with their attending physician
- Serving in accordance with the standards of the ACGME as outlined in hospital, clinic and office settings.
- Complying with the requirement that the attending physician is physically present for all procedures.
- Complying with the requirement that all charts are co-signed by the attending physician and all medical records are completed in a timely fashion.
