MODERN HEALTHCARE ANNOUNCES TOP TWENTY FIVE MINORITY HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES FOR 2012

We are pleased to announce that Alex Valdez, President and CEO of CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been selected as one of the top twenty five minority healthcare executives in the United States.

Alex Valdez has had a distinguished career in law, government service and healthcare administration. He has passionately served the needs of the diverse population of New Mexico and has worked tirelessly to address the health care needs of the entire community regardless of ability to pay.

Alex Valdez joined St. Vincent Hospital in September, 2002, as Vice President and General Counsel. Two years later he was promoted to President and CEO and initiated many improved services and new facilities at the hospital. Two years into his Presidency, Alex Valdez and the Board of Directors initiated a strategic planning process which ultimately led to the establishment of the partnership with CHRISTUS Health four years ago. Through the leadership of Alex Valdez, that partnership has enabled the expansion and improvement of healthcare services and facilities at CHRISTUS St Vincent Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Valdez is a Fellow, American College of Health Care Executives and has been recently elected to the Board of PAGE 2 Directors of the Catholic Health Association of the United States. He also serves on the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force of CHRISTUS Health.

Alex Valdez resides in Espanola, New Mexico, with his wife, Rosemary Valdez, who is a retired kindergarten teacher. Alex and Rosemary are the parents of four daughters, Jessica, Alexis, Angela and Rebecca, all of whom have completed their undergraduate degrees, and are pursuing their professional careers or post-graduate education.

The belief in the value of education was taught to Alex by his parents and extended family as he grew up in Northern New Mexico. He has modeled the value of belief in the individual's ability to overcome barriers through hard work. These values have enabled Alex Valdez to become a respected leader who is a role model for aspiring young Hispanics who want to make a difference in our world.

Congratulations Alex on this well deserved national honor!

We are all very proud of you!
