Katje Musgrave, DO, joins CHRISTUS St. Vincent
St. Michael's Family Medicine
Katje M. Lerew Musgrave, DO, has joined CHRISTUS St. Vincent St. Michael's Family Medicine as a family practice physician.
Dr. Musgrave will provide care for the entire family, with an emphasis on Obstetrics/ Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
Osteopathic physicians (DO's) are fully-trained doctors and licensed to prescribe medications and practice in all specialties of medicine, ranging from primary care to surgery. The osteopathic philosophy of medicine considers the health of the whole person, the body's ability to self-heal, and the connection of all the organs systems in the body to one another. Additionally, DO's are trained in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), a hands-on method of diagnosing, treating, and preventing illness and/or injury in their patients.
OMT may be used for musculoskeletal problems, such as neck or back pain, tension headaches, and scoliosis. However, it is also very effective for other, non-musculoskeletal problems, including: asthma, breastfeeding difficulties, TMJ dysfunction, migraine headaches, post-concussive syndrome, and pregnancy related aches & pains. OMT encompasses a wide variety of techniques, and can be an extremely gentle treatment that is safe for all ages.
After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Musgrave earned her DO from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. She completed her residency in 2010 at Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine in Augusta, Maine, serving the last year as chief resident.
Dr. Musgrave then completed a fellowship in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon, Michigan.
